Corneal Transplantation

It is known as eye transplantation among the people, but the whole eye transplantation that is out of question. The Corneal Transplant Surgery is the most common and successful transplant all over the world.

Corneal Transplantation

What is Cornea?

The cornea is set in the forefront on the eye that is a specializing, transparent, and curved tissue for focus the light and protect to eye against extrinsic factors. The cornea is like watch glass fairly. When looked at from the opposite side, it cannot be realized the because that is transparent. When looked from the outside, the iris layer of the eye (the layer that gives color to the eye) and the orifice in the middle of the eye (pupil) are realized.

Cornea and lens provide focus to light coming from the external environment to retina that has vision cells. Refractivity power of the cornea is not variable in any case refractivity power of the lens is variable and it provide focus to objects where certain distances fall on the retina.

Cornea Transplantation in Izmir, Turkey

It is known as eye transplantation among the people, but the whole eye transplantation that is out of question. because the eye is an organ in the form of an extent of the brain and the eye is connected to the brain by the optic nerve. In order for the whole eye to be transplanted, the optic nerve of the eye must be cut off and replaced with another eye. When the optic nerve is cut, the sight is lost irreversibly and it is impossible to regain the sight in that eye.

Corneal transplantation is a transfer surgery that is applied to patients who have transparency is impaired or the ultra-showing deviation of curvature of the cornea tissue. It is a transplant surgery in which the transparent corneal tissue taken from the dead is replaced with the damaged corneal tissue, which is applied in cases where the transparency of the corneal layer is impaired. Cornea transplantation is done only with tissue taken from the dead human. Even so, the patient has willingly, this transplant is not possible to transfer from a healthy person who even if the twin of the patient.

Cornea Transplantation is the most common and successful transplant surgery all over the world. Because the risk of rejection (the risk of the body not accepting the implanted tissue) is the lowest transplant surgery. The main cause of this lowest risk  that the cornea tissue has not vessels. Also, there is no test for determined to rejection risk like tissue compatibility before the surgery. However, some features of the tissue to be examined in detail before the surgery and if the tissue is healthy for surgery, it can be transplanted.

After with ending of the life, some tissues such as the cornea remain alive for a certain period. During this period, the organ or tissue is taken and transferred to the transplant center in special storage solutions, and its vitality is preserved for a while.

The old blurred cornea is displaced and then the new cornea is transplanted after some necessary tests of the new cornea are done. And the new cornea is followed closely with drug therapy is that required after the transplantation.

Although the most important issue is that not to get rejected to the compatibility of the implant by the body, the other important issue that following the eye numbers and especially astigmatism. In necessary cases, the patient's sutures are removed earlier and the eye number is tried to be regulated.
